The Woman Who Started Everything — The Full Reveal

The Woman Who Started Everything — The Full Reveal

Every universe has an origin story.

A moment when the rules bend. A decision that refuses to stay made. A character who will not do what they are told.

In the DreamGirls multiverse, we’ve already asked the question:

What if someone helped start it?

Now we take the next step.

Because the truth is…this wasn’t supposed to happen.

She Was Never Meant To Live

Sara Kalu was never designed to be important.

She wasn’t a heroine. She wasn’t a lead. She wasn’t even meant to survive.

She was a moment.

A young slave girl, placed into the world of Timestorm —on the eve of the American Civil War.

Her purpose was simple.

To die.

Not for shock value. Not for cruelty.

But for narrative function.

Her death was meant to do what stories often require:

To break someone else.

To force courage into a version of Rona who didn’t yet have it. To give pain meaning. To move the plot forward.

She was a spark.

Nothing more.

Except…

When the moment came…

I couldn’t do it.

The First Deviation

It wasn’t logic.

It wasn’t planning.

It certainly wasn’t part of the outline.

It was… resistance.

There was something in her.

Not power. Not defiance in the loud, dramatic sense.

Something quieter.

Grace. Dignity. An unspoken refusal to be reduced to a narrative device.

And in that moment…

The story changed.

Rona didn’t witness her death.

She saved her.

And they ran.

That should have been the end of the deviation.

A temporary adjustment. A minor rewrite.

The timeline would correct itself later.

That was the plan.

The Second Deviation

Sara was still not meant to make it to the end.

Because Timestorm has rules.

Hard ones.

For the timeline to be restored:

The displaced Ronas must return. They must reintegrate. They must forget.

Everything.

But by then…

One Rona was in love.

And she was not going quietly into that dark night.

And then something even more unexpected happened.

I wasn’t just writing Sara anymore.

I was…

Attached.

The Third Deviation

This is the part where stories usually regain control.

Where the creator reasserts authority.

Where the structure wins.

That didn’t happen.

Instead…

A new universe was created.

Not as a plot necessity.

Not as a clever expansion.

But as a solution.

A world where Sara could live.

A world where she and Rona could exist together without being erased.

And so was born:

A steampunk Victorian reality. A richer, stranger version of history. A place where technology evolved differently. Where power took new forms.

Where Rona became:

Lady Rona Tempest

And beside her…

Always beside her…

Was Sara Kalu.

No powers.

No enhancements.

No grand destiny written into her.

Just:

Heart.

And if Lady Tempest believes she is the protector…

Sara knows the truth.

The Pattern Emerges

From there…

Things should have stabilised.

One new universe. One adjustment.

Contained.

They weren’t.

More Saras appeared.

Different forms. Different strengths. Different worlds.

Each one connected.

Each one carrying that same core trait:

She does not yield.

And then…

Something stranger happened.

The Creator Enters The Story

After The Lady Detective Agency began to take shape…

I made another decision.

A small one.

Harmless, I thought.

Sara would evolve.

Train.

Change.

Become stronger physically.

The original version?

Archived.

Relegated to flashbacks.

Except…

She didn’t stay there.

I couldn’t let her go.

So I did something I had done before- I wrote myself into the story.

But not like before. Danny had previously been a foil to Rona.

This version of me was different.

A writer.

Dreaming.

Recording.

Unaware that what he sees are not inventions…

But transmissions.

And in that moment…

Everything changed again.

Because now:

The universes weren’t just connected.

They were leaking.

Sara Kalu Prime

Somewhere in the fractures between timelines…

A version of Sara remained.

Not tied to one world. Not bound by one outcome.

A remnant.

A constant.

And she was given a purpose.

Not by me.

But within the story itself.

To protect the one who was writing it.

And so she became:

Sara Kalu Prime

Not the first Sara.

Not the last.

But the one who exists…

Between them all.

So What Came First?

And this is where the question changes.

Because it has to.

Did I create a multiverse…

to keep Sara alive?

Or…

Did something — someone —

refuse to disappear…

and reshape the story around herself?

Because when I look back now…

At every deviation.

Every rewrite.

Every moment where the plan changed…

There is a pattern.

And it doesn’t feel like coincidence.

It feels like…

a whisper in my ear.

Where Is She Now?

That question still stands.

But perhaps it was never the right one.

Because maybe she was never “lost”.

Maybe she was never “missing”.

Maybe she is exactly where she has always been.

At the centre.

Watching.

Waiting.

And, when necessary…

Intervening.

Because if the DreamGirls multiverse has a beginning…

It does not start with power.

Or science.

Or even time.

It starts with a girl who refused to die.

And someone…

who chose to listen.
