For The Love Of Sara!

Sara's story is an interesting tale of creator obsessive disorder!

Basically, Sara Kalu isn't supposed to be alive. She was introduced in the original 'Timestorm' story I did that was to be the basis of a Ronaverse featuring lots of variations of my favourite MILF. Sara was to be a plot piece, a young slave girl from the eve of the American Civil War who is murdered by her owners in front of a displaced and fearful Rona (aged 40). This vicious act spurs Rona to find her courage to survive until... well, that would be telling because the Timestorm GN will be published soon and I don't want to give it all away. So read on carefully as there are some spoilers.

But something happened. When I got to the murder scene, I just couldn't do it. There was something about her graceful defiance that touched me, so I gave her a reprieve, and changed the plot so that she would be rescued by Rona and go on the run together.

But even then, I didn't intend to leave her alive at the end. I don't want to give too much away, but for the time line to be saved, the three Ronas displaced in time need to reintegrate with the timeline and forget all about their sex-filled adventures. But by now, Rona aged 40 is in love. And she is not about to go quietly into that dark night... And, it would appear, neither was Sara. By now, Rona wasn't the only one in love with this brave, passionate, compassionate young woman.

And so is born a new Universe, especially so that Rona and Sara could be together. A Universe in which the Victorian era is a steam-punk driven, much more technically advanced era than the one we know. A Universe in which Rona is Lady Rona Tempest, a rich and powerful crime fighter with extraordinary abilities (don't worry, Timestorm explains how she gets these abilities) and by her side, Sara Kalu, whose only superpower is her heart. Lady Tempest may think her job is to protect the young woman by her side. Sara Kalu KNOWS she is there to protect her Lady.

And The Lady Detective Agency series is born.

But given that I was creating a multiverse of Ronas (see my For The Love of Rona piece), it then made sense to create a multiverse of Saras. And then an idea formed- what IF there was a force that drove Ronas and Saras to find one another out... and that's when I started planning a Crisis that arises straight out of Timestorm, that will eventually lead to a final battle between good and evil, and the reason why Rona and Sara must be together is finally revealed...

But I get ahead of myself. I said I created a multiverse of Saras so here they are.

1. Sara Kalu. The original slave girl who becomes an amazing hero in her own right, fighting alongside her Lady, and willing to take on Gods and Monsters to protect her.

2. Sara Palmer of Zombie Earth. A Zombie fighter who crosses paths with the Vampire Reaper from another Earth and who goes on the run with her from other vampires, aliens and humans alike.

3. Sara Byron, the former spouse of Vampire Rona who took her own life rather than become a vampire...

4. Sara Palmer of the future (i.e., our present) LDA world. What her connection to the past Sara Kalu is must remain a secret for now.

5. Sara Prime. Now this is where it gets really interesting (i.e. obsessive). I already said I had changed the plot of Timestorm THREE times to accommodate Sara's will to survive, but then things got really crazy. After the first LDA Book (The Curious Case of Jacqueline Hide) I thought, 'okay someone who trains as hard as Sara would start to look very buff', so I created a more athletic looking Sara for Book 2 and consigned my original Sara model to "flashbacks". Except she wouldn't just accept that role. I was totally besotted with my own creation! So I created a scenario that became part of the Crisis story arc, in which a writer (who looks very much like me lol) has dreams that he makes into books- but the dreams are actually leaks from the other Universes. He is a Prime (although he doesn't know), and at danger from the forces of evil. So Lady Time (from Timestorm) grabs a remnant of Sara from a disused time-line and tasks her with the mission of protecting him. And so, Sara Kalu Prime is born. My Sara.

There is another 'Sara' but she will be introduced later.

So there you have it. My Muse is a character I created! Or, did I? What if my stories are leaks from other realities, seeping into my troubled mind? What if Sara exists in my dreams and thoughts because she really is out there, defending me from evil?
